Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes A.K.A. War Machine will make an appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
It’s all connected. In a recent appearance on BroBible’s Post-Credit podcast, Don Cheadle opened up about the inter-connected nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He noted that that Marvel Studios has figured out a perfect formula for using its sprawling cast of characters across different mediums, explaining that the storylines set up on the big-screen get explored in much deeper ways on Disney Plus. WandaVision, for example, seems to be managing that plan perfectly.
“That’s some of the fun of the MCU, that we all get to show up in each other’s stories, and there are ways that we’re cross-platforming these characters, and they become storylines, sometimes, in the movies. And then these storylines in the movies become storylines in the shows,”
But Don Cheadle also revealed he’ll return to play War Machine in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which is set to arrive on Disney Plus next month. The star also touched on his solo series, Armor Wars, saying that he’s excited to get started on the project. With his appearance in the Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes adventure, it wouldn’t be surprising if Armor Wars spins out of whatever Baron Zemo has planned for the MCU. Take a look at Don Cheadle discussing the series below.
“It’s really a fun and interesting and, by all imagination, completely open-ended — this can go anywhere. It’s great, I can’t wait to get in the room with the writers and figure out how all those things [connecting Armor Wars to the MCU] happen. You know, Rhodey shows up in Winter Soldier and Falcon’s show. So, it can be a lot.”
