Captain Marvel WandaVision

Captain Marvel WandaVisionThe most recent episode of WandaVision revealed the surprising future for one of the main characters in Captain Marvel.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for WandaVision episode four.

As WandaVision continues weekly, Marvel fans finally got a few more answers regarding the strange pocket reality of Westview in episode four. Surprisingly the latest chapter took a step back and revealed how Captain Marvel‘s Monica Rambeau became involved in the entire mystery, starting with the moment she came back from the Blip. But before she returns to work at the Sentient Weapons Observation and Response Division also known as S.W.O.R.D., WandaVision reveals why Monica’s mother, Maria Rambeau isn’t around.

When Monica returns from the Blip, she’s sitting beside an empty hospital bed, and when she rushes out into the corridor the entire building is in chaos as those who died thanks to Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Endgame were all revived. But when she finds a doctor she knows and asks where her mother is, she’s told that Maria’s cancer had come back and she passed away three years before WandaVision. It’s a surprising off-screen death for the Captain Marvel character, but it sounds like there’s more adventures to be told since she the episode also confirms Maria had a hand in setting up S.W.O.R.D.

What do you make of Maria Rambeau’s death? Do you think she’ll return in flashbacks for Captain Marvel 2? Will Monica Rambeau get her comic book powers in WandaVision? Sound-off in the comments below!
