I Didn’t Like Sweatshirts Until I Saw These 21 “Fashion” Styles

It seems to be a universal truth that anyone who wore a school uniform will find that, in later life, they are unable to wear anything that vaguely resembles said uniform—be it a particular colour, cut, or fabric. For me, this manifested in an aversion to sweatshirts, an item of clothing I wore for the entirety of primary and secondary school. I always envied the pupils at the nearby private school who got to wear fancy V-neck jumpers and blazers rather than our sad, maroon-coloured, and chewed-sleeve sweatshirts (talk about “grass is greener”).
But, fast-forward 14 years, and I may have finally been persuaded to return to this school-age staple thanks to a handful of brands that are making sweatshirts look undeniably chic—oh, and the fact that I’ve spent the last nine months working from home and living in loungewear. However, these are not your average gym-goer’s garms. Rather, they are stylish designs that come in offbeat colourways and are embellished with low-key logos. They are the ultimate piece to throw on with jeans and boots for a weekend look that can be worn now with a layered roll-neck and then styled with a floral dress and sandals come summer.
From Étoile Isabel Marant’s iconic retro-inspired sweatshirts to Ganni’s “logos for those who don’t do logos” look, scroll down to see and shop the sweatshirts that well and truly changed my mind this season.
