Suicide Squad star Joel Kinnaman expressed his support behind the David Ayer cut movement because of Jared Leto’s Joker.
A major element of the 2016 Suicide Squad film that let people down was Jared Leto’s Joker, which was highly anticipated after the actor scored an Oscar win. Since the film’s theatrical release, David Ayer has been quick to defend his take on The Joker left on the cutting room floor. Leto might be back as The Joker for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but many, including Joel Kinnaman, still want to see him in that other desirable director’s cut that has been teased.
In a recent interview with The Playlist, Joel Kinnaman was asked about the David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad, and the star revealed that he would be interested in seeing it because of all the cut scenes featuring Jared Leto’s Joker:
“You always wanna see the filmmaker’s cut, you know? It’s always a shame when the filmmaker’s vision doesn’t make it to the cinema. Of course, there’s always going to be compromise. I find it’s the bigger the budget, the bigger the compromise. Usually, that’s the case. I’m sure [Ayer’s cut] would be much more interesting. David’s take on the Joker was really interesting and that didn’t really come out in the movie that we saw.”

Here is the synopsis for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad:
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
Written and directed by David Ayer, the film stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, and Scott Eastwood.
