Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige briefly addressed the possibility of characters like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With the imminent release of WandaVision on DisneyPlus, Kevin Feige recently spoke to the press about the state of the MCU going forward. But now that the rights for characters like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist are back with Marvel Studios after their stint at Netflix, many fans have wondered how long it will be until they appear alongside other heroes. While the Save Daredevil campaign has picked up a lot of steam recently, Kevin Feige was asked by Deadline about where Luke Cage and Jessica Jones could reappear.
Kevin Feige explained that Marvel Studios’ focus for the moment is the slate of projects announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 and the recent Disney Investor Day presentation. However, he also noted “never say never about anything”, which could mean Jessica Jones and Luke Cage could have cameo appearances or supporting roles in future Marvel projects. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones could easily show up alongside Tatiana Maslany in the She-Hulk series, for example. Although Luke Cage star Mike Colter explained back in December that he hasn’t spoken to Marvel Studios about reprising his role. Take a look at Kevin Feige discussing the heroes below.
“Well, certainly you’ve seen what we announced at Comic-Con a year and half ago and on Disney Investor Day a few weeks ago, so that’s our focus. But I’ve been at Marvel long enough to never say never about anything.
What do you make of Kevin Feige’s comments on the potential return of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage? Should Danny Rand’s Iron Fist and Colleen Wing also come back at some point? Where do you want to see Daredevil show up? Sound-off in the comments below!
Here is the synopsis for the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage:
After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
Luke Cage stars Mike Colter as the titular hero, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Hernan Alvarez/Shades, Gabrielle Dennis as Tilda Johnson, Mustafa Shakir as John McIver/Bushmaster, and Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard/Black Mariah.
Luke Cage is available on Netflix. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Kevin Feige, the future of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more content!
