Not only will Deadpool 3 be R-rated, but it will also take place in the MCU according to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
During interviews ahead of WandaVision, Kevin Feige opened up about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a number of different ways. But aside from teasing the return of the Netflix heroes alongside discussing those Spider-Man 3 rumors, the Marvel Studios head revealed a surprising update about Ryan Ryenolds’ Deadpool 3. Feige confirmed that it will take place in the MCU, but that it’ll also hold an R-rating.
When speaking to Collider, Kevin Feige opened up about Deadpool 3, noting that it won’t go into production this year due to Ryan Reynolds’ busy schedule. But that it’s exciting to bring “a very different type of character” into the MCU. If the film goes into production in 2022, it seems likely that Deadpool 3 will arrive in theaters at some point in 2023. Take a look at Kevin Feige discussing the R-rated Deadpool 3 in the MCU below.
“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
