7 Epic 2021 Trends That Are Olsen-Approved

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t inspired by the fashion trends that Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen were wearing. From their younger days to their street style fashion in the 2000s to the pieces they’re now designing at The Row, their sartorial taste has always made a lasting impact on me. What I love about their style most is how they invest in amazing core wardrobe staples but aren’t afraid to experiment with trends and fashion-forward silhouettes.

They’re typically earlier adopters who know the cool trends long before they happen. They’ve even helped pave the way for controversial pieces like Birkenstock sandals. Looking to the S/S 21 runways, I noticed how many Olsen-inspired fashion trends I spotted among them. From reinvented basics to cutout dresses to the clog trend that’s about to take over to, you can find many of them sitting in the Olsens’ closet. Here, see how they wore them first and get inspiration for how to try them out for yourself this spring.

Clogs have been spotted everywhere from the S/S 21 collections to the wardrobes of the fashion set. Here, they’re styled to perfection with a classic coat and ripped jeans.

Loose, relaxed trousers have been an Olsen favourite for years. Now that we’ve seen them in the S/S 21 collection of brands including Louis Vuitton and Chloé, you can expect to see plenty more of them in 2021.

According to recent reports from retailers like Net-a-Porter, shoppers are interested in buying more investment bags than in past years. If you’re looking for a bag that you’ll own and wear for years, you can’t go wrong with one of these from Hermès, Prada, or Bottega Veneta.

While tunic tops may sound a little daunting to pull off, Ashley Olsen shows just how chic they are. Paired with sandals and a flowy skirt or pants and you have the perfect polished look for spring.

With brands like Valentino and The Row endorsing oversized button-down tops for spring, you can expect to see the fashion set on board. We spotted them on the runways with micro shorts and relaxed trousers but you can’t go wrong by styling them with a classic pair of jeans.

One of the many “naked” trends that were huge on the spring runways, cutout dresses have to be one of my favourite takes on barely-there fashion for the upcoming season.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen big belts come into play, but I’m very ready for their return. Mary-Kate Olsen shows the perfect, sophisticated way to wear one.
