The words “affordable” and “cashmere” aren’t often found together. In fact, I tend to be dubious when they are—but not when Marks and Spencer is part of that equation. I’ve been shopping in the high-street institution for as long as I can remember (one of my earliest memories is looking at red-velvet dresses for Christmas in the children’s department at the age of four), so when it came to investing in my first piece of cashmere, I knew exactly where to turn.
Buying cashmere is a rite of passage for grown-ups, but you needn’t completely break the bank to add some luxury to your wardrobe. I’ve been fortunate to have cashmere from high-end designers as well as Marks and Spencer, and I can confirm that the high-street retailer’s iterations have held up just as well (if not better) than those with plush price tags.
Too good to keep to myself, I’ve decided to share with you my edit of the very best Marks and Spencer cashmere jumpers—from cable knits and step hems to classic crews and roll-necks in every shade from camel to raspberry. Simply tuck them into everything (satin skirts, high-waist jeans, checked trousers, etc.) for the perfect winter ensemble.
