Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins revealed that she had no input on how Diana Prince was portrayed in Justice League.
Although Patty Jenkins helped shape the Wonder Woman character for a new era with Diana Prince’s two solo movies (with Wonder Woman 3 on the way), the director recently confessed that she wasn’t a part of the hero’s portrayal in 2017’s Justice League. During an interview with Collider following the release of Wonder Woman 1984, Jenkins explained that because she was filming the first film when Justice League started production, she didn’t have time to help with the Amazon’s depiction in the team-up movie.
Patty Jenkins also noted that she didn’t have any input with either the theatrical version of Justice League or the Zack Snyder cut of the film. The director explained that she tried to make sure that she stuck to the continuity of what had already been set up, including using the same Wonder Woman costume. But interestingly, Jenkins wasn’t privy to the events of Justice League when working on the first film.
“I did not have any input into how she fit into either version of Justice League. I was shooting Wonder Woman at the time that they started shooting Justice League so it was a very, very busy time. But no, I never had any input or even really knowledge about what was going to be going on in Justice League. Yes, I always have tried to kind of be respectful of knowing where she kind of ends up and keeping the same suit and all of those kinds of things, but I didn’t really know exactly what was going to happen there.”
What do you make of the surprising Wonder Woman news? Are you surprised Patty Jenkins didn’t have any input on the character’s portrayal in Justice League? Sound-off in the comments below!
