Pedro Pascal recently shared that his role in the failed Wonder Woman TV show pilot could’ve cost him a shot at playing Maxwell Lord in the Patty Jenkins film.
A few years before Gal Gadot joined the DC Extended Universe as Wonder Woman and eventually got her own solo film, a TV show was in the works for NBC. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and John Wick star Adrianne Palicki famously played Wonder Woman in the pilot that never saw the light of day. Another notable star in that pilot…none other than Pedro Pascal himself.
In the failed pilot, Pedro Pascal played Detective Ed Indelicato before landing the Maxwell Lord role years later in Wonder Woman 1984. Pascal admitted that he might’ve been worried that the failed pilot from a decade ago could’ve cost him a role in the Patty Jenkins sequel:
“… I think that because of the impact of the first movie, and then, of course, the idea of getting to work with Patty Jenkins, it never occurred to me. And I’m glad that it didn’t because I think I probably would’ve been paranoid if they knew I had already had a go at a Wonder Woman project. Maybe they didn’t know at the time.”

Full details on Wonder Woman 1984′s plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord. Wonder Woman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s DC superhero team-up movie Justice League.
Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.
