Margot Robbie recently commented on the development of a Birds of Prey sequel over at Warner Bros. after the film’s lackluster box office results.
Birds of Prey was one of the few films of 2020 to get a proper release in theaters, but that didn’t help in terms of the box office. The Harley Quinn-led Birds of Prey film earned a positive reception from critics, but failed to do much at the box office with its $200 million worldwide total. Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is set to return in The Suicide Squad next year, but what about the promise of the Birds of Prey team assembled at the end of the 2020 film?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Margot Robbie talked about a few of her upcoming projects and opened up about the status of a Birds of Prey sequel:
“I don’t know. Nothing imminent at this stage, nothing worth mentioning.”

Here is the official synopsis for Birds of Prey:
“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
Birds of Prey is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest developments in the DCEU and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
