The main cast joining Simu Liu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been announced alongside the characters being introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While many TV and film productions around the world faced widespread disruptions due to the ongoing pandemic, Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings managed to keep shooting. Remarkably, none of the cast or crew managed to catch COVID-19 while filming in Australia, something Simu Liu was proud of when he announced he’d wrapped on the film back in October. But during the Disney Investor presentation, Kevin Feige revealed some of the additional cast members joining Liu in the adventure.
Alongside Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi is Tony Leung as Wenwu A.K.A. The Mandarin. A version of the villain appeared in Iron Man 3 played by Guy Pearce, but Leung’s Wenwu will be the true Mandarin. Awkwafina is playing ‘Katy’ next to Meng’er Zhang as Xialing. The brilliant Michelle Yeoh plays Jiang Nan alongside Renny Chieng’s Jon Jon and Dala Cen’s Jiang Li. When the film finally arrives in July 2021, we’ll also see professional boxer Florian Munteanu will play a version of the villain, Razor Fist. In the comics, he’s an assassin whose real name is William Young who has his hands replaced with huge blades. Take a look at the cast in Shang-Chi below.

Introduced in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, Shang-Chi is a skilled martial artist who was raised in an isolated compound located in China and trained by his father Fu Manchu, a Chinese crimelord and immortal sorcerer who repeatedly attempted to conquer the world. When Shang-Chi was finally allowed to venture into the outside world to do his father’s bidding, he learned about his father’s evil ways and faked his own death before embarking on a mission to take down Fu Manchu’s criminal empire.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, and Ronny Chieng. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2021.
