New concept art from Avengers: Age of Ultron reveals the comic-accurate costume for Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
With WandaVision heading to Disney Plus in January, a newly revealed concept design from Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park shows off Elizabeth Olsen in a modern version of the classic Scarlet Witch costume. The design comes from the character’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in Avengers: Age of Ultron and really leans into the classic look of the character. Although it seems like WandaVision will thoroughly explore Scarlet Witch’s powers which were initially established in the Avengers sequel.
The concept art from Andy Park is a step away from Scarlet Witch’s costume in the Avengers film, but it’s a stunning design nonetheless. It gives Elizabeth Olsen the iconic headpiece often associated with the character, albeit a little less flamboyant than the Halloween costume version of the tiara seen in the WandaVision teasers. Park noted in the caption that the art was just an early exploration of what the character could look like, so who knows – Olsen might don a costume closer to the design in the series. Take a look below.
What do you make of the Scarlet Witch design from the Avengers sequel? Are you excited to see Wanda Maximoff in her own series? Should Elizabeth Olsen get a proper version of her suit in the comics? Sound-off in the comments below!
Here is the official synopsis for WandaVision:
Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.
Directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, and Kathryn Hahn in an undisclosed role. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that the series will lead into the feature film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
