Hard-charging aviation legend Chuck Yeager, who in 1947 became the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound in level flight, also expired on December 7. Yeager has been 97.
Yeager’s departure was announced by his wife Victoria through Yeager’s confirmed Twitter accounts:
Fr @VictoriaYeage11 it’s w/ deep sorrow, I have to inform you my entire life adore General Chuck Yeager passed before 9pm ET. An unbelievable life lived, America’s greatest antiques, and also a heritage of power, experience, and patriotism will probably be remembered forever.
