Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello recently teased that he and Justice League director Zack Snyder have some interesting projects in the pipeline.
Although he only briefly appeared at the end of Justice League, DC fans instantly fell in love with Joe Manganiello as the live-action Deathstroke in the DC Extended Universe. And while the future plan for him to appear in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie fell through, many still want to see the star reprise the role in future projects. And in a recent appearance on the Drinks With Johnny podcast, Manganiello teased that he and Zack Snyder are working on something together.
During the podcast discussion, Joe Manganiello also opened up about how he nearly played Superman, but due to his obligations to True Blood it wasn’t possible to don the hero’s iconic cape and tights. Obviously, it would be great to see him step back into the Deathstroke armor at some point. As some fans already know, Joe Manganiello recently joined the Army of the Dead anime series which will be spun-off from Zack Snyder’s upcoming zombie Netflix movie. “I don’t like to really dwell on stuff that didn’t happen. If you really draw a line… That was how I met Zack Snyder through that process. Zack loved True Blood, and when I showed up on True Blood he wanted me be [Superman]. I couldn’t do the movie but Zack came back around and called me and said ‘I want you to meet Ben Affleck’ and that’s how I met Ben, and that’s how I got cast as Deathstroke in Ben’s Batman movie was through, basically, Zack vouched for me. That movie didn’t happen, but Zack and I have all kinds of fun stuff coming up. So we’ve got some fun projects that are in the works. It was something that just because of circumstances and my contract with true Blood, there was just no way that situation was gonna happen. There’s nothing for me to get p****d off about ’cause it’s like, what can you do?”
