‘The Mandalorian’ Teases Return of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Villain

The Mandalorian Star Wars Rebels

The Mandalorian Star Wars RebelsThe Mandalorian just teased the arrival of a big villain who was last seen in the finale of Star Wars Rebels.

WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE MANDALORIAN SEASON 2.

The focus might have been on the debut of Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano, but a small name-drop towards the episode’s end teases another fan-favorite character is about to crossover into The Mandalorian from Star Wars Rebels. If the show does introduce the villain, it would mark the third time The Mandalorian has introduced a a character only previously seen in animation or in the wider universe of books, comics and games.

During Ahsoka’s fight with the Magistrate in the city of Calodan, the gray Jedi briefly pushed the warlord for information on Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fans will remember that at the end of Star Wars Rebels, both Ezra Bridger and Thrawn disappeared after being pulled across through space by the colossal creatures known as the Purrgil. According to Ahsoka, Thrawn is the master of the Magistrate – so it’ll be interesting to see whether the Chiss villain makes his live-action debut in The Mandalorian. For those not familiar with the villain, he’s a cunning Imperial officer who happens to be a genius tactician. Whether he’s working with Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon remains to be seen, but it seems likely.

Do you want to see Grand Admiral Thrawn make an appearance on The Mandalorian? Do you want to see more characters from Star Wars Rebels in live-action? What will the villain have in store for the universe? Sound-off in the comments below!
