A creepy concept design pictures Aquaman star Willem Dafoe as the Joker to replace Joaquin Phoenix on the big screen.
While Joaquin Phoenix gave an incredible performance as Arthur Fleck in Joker, a huge number of fans have always suggested Aquaman star Willem Dafoe as a great candidate for the role. His huge filmography has proved that he’s got the acting range to pull off difficult roles and it’s hard not to wonder what he’d bring to the Clown Prince of Crime. The star will next be seen as Vulko in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but many would like to see him join The Batman in a future film.
A rumor surfaced online earlier this year that director Matt Reeves is looking to introduce the legendary villain in the second film of the upcoming franchise, and this concept design pictures what the actor could look like in the iconic clown make-up. Given his acting versatility (Spider-Man, Antichrist and The Lighthouse, for example) Willem Dafoe as the Joker is an intriguing idea. The design from Jaxson Derr on Instagram shows off the sinister glee the Aquaman star could bring to the role to replace Joaquin Phoenix, take a look below.
