Now the National Science Foundation announced that the famous Arecibo radio observatory will be closed down. Built to a hilltop from Puerto Rico, the most important dish of this observatory is around 300 meters over, and its huge size is now a characteristic in popular culture ranging from James Bond films to video games. However despite having a long history of scientific gifts, the observatory was fighting for financing for more than ten years, and 2 wires which support it have neglected this season, leaving it in a shaky state.

After technology studies ascertained there wasn’t any way to fix the hardware without even placing employees in danger,” the NSF made the choice to close off the observatory down.

Greater than a Large dish

While the absolute scale of the major dish in Arecibo grabbed the most attention, the dish has been only a reflector. The true business end of the telescope{} radio waves have been felt, was a tool platform suspended {} it by wires strung in three towers. The tool system held a recipient which may be transferred to various places over the disc, which makes it the capability to solve signs from more instructions than its stationary dish may indicate.
