A new concept design shows Zendaya wearing a Batgirl costume as Barbara Gordon for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.
We still have over a year to wait until The Batman swoops into theaters, but many fans are wondering what the rest of the Bat-Family could look like in the new universe being led by Robert Pattinson. One name that’s been suggested for Barbara Gordon is Spider-Man and Euphoria star Zendaya. The star’s performance in Euphoria proves she can hold her own against some heavy subject matter, and it seems like Matt Reeves’ The Batman world is pretty dark if the first trailer is anything to go by.
We’ll see a version of Barbara Gordon appear on the small screen first, as the character will have a role in the third season of HBO Max’s Titans. And although many Batman fans are keen to see Robin or Nightwing appear in the Robert Pattinson film, introducing Batgirl could offer an interesting glimmer of light in the darkness of this new Gotham City. A new design of Zendaya as Batgirl surfaced online thanks to digital artist Mizuriau on Instagram, giving the Euphoria star a costume that looks similar to the suit seen in the Arkham games. The plot of The Batman is being kept a closely guarded secret, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as Gotham City’s Dark Knight. The Batman will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films starring Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, Robert Pattinson stars as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
