New details surrounding Leslye Headland’s upcoming Star Wars series for Disney Plus have reportedly been revealed.
The future of the Star Wars franchise will live on Disney Plus for the time being with a variety of shows currently in development. The Mandalorian is currently in its second season while shows centered on Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi are set to begin production next. Recently, Deadline reported that we will also be getting a Boba Fett miniseries as well, which is said to begin filming as early as next week. Amidst all these shows in the development, Russian Dolls creator Leslye Headland is also working on a Star Wars series of her own.
Not much is known about the upcoming Star Wars series, but SlashFilm was able to spot in the Deadline piece new details surrounding the Leslye Headland project. The series is, “believed to be a female-driven action thriller with martial arts elements and set in an alternate timeline from the usual Star Wars universe.” While most of these details aren’t new, the show is now being described as a “thriller.” As far as the other information, Star Wars is no stranger to martial arts, and the alternate timeline bit could be referring to the series exploring a new era like the High or Old Republic.
