The lawyer for Aquaman star Amber Heard has shared her thoughts on the recent verdict of Johnny Depp in his libel case against The Sun.
Johnny Depp has been in court for the last few months in a libel suit against The Sun, who published that he was a “wife-beater” towards ex-wife Amber Heard. Earlier this week, it was announced that Depp lost the libel case in the United Kingdom with the judge finding that most of the allegations made by Aquaman star were true.
After the result of the libel case, Depp shared on social media that he will no longer play Gellert Grindlewald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, but will still fight for his reputation. Amber Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, recently talked to People and shared that she wasn’t really surprised by the verdict of the Johnny Depp libel case overseas and doesn’t think the actor’s next defamation suit will be any different:
“For those of us present for the London High Court trial, this decision and Judgment are not a surprise. Very soon, we will be presenting even more voluminous evidence in the U.S. We are committed to obtaining Justice for Amber Heard in the U.S. Court and defending Ms. Heard’s Right to Free Speech.”
Amber Heard is expected to return as Mera in the yet-to-be-titled Aquaman sequel. For now, fans can see Heard as Mera in Aquaman. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:
