A substantial amount of individuals infected with the pandemic coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, are undergoing long-term ailments and taking several months or weeks to completely recuperate, the World Health Organization highlighted in a press conference now.
“I’ve heard firsthand from those who confront mid- to longterm consequences of COVID-19 disease,” WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated. “What is really about is the huge range of symptoms that change over time, frequently overlap, and will affect any system in the body”
While there have been reports of COVID-19 long-haulers, the WHO worked to increase awareness of the issue today. It is still uncertain what percentage of infected individuals go to get mid- to longterm health issues, Tedros mentioned. However, it’s apparent that”this isn’t only a virus which kills people” And with over 45 million cases worldwide –and counting–a tiny percentage will signify a great amount of individuals will have long term handicap.
