His Dark Materials, the BBC/HBO version of Philip Pullman’s classic fantasy trilogy, received mixed reviews for the very first season, though it still justified an honorable mention within our 2019 year-end TV roundup. The next season debuts next month. HBO fell the initial S2 trailer at July through the San Diego Comic-Con@Home plus a second more one at August. Today BBC has launched yet another trailer that comprises a brief featurette, together with cast interviews plus a few trendy glimpses behind the scenes.
As we have written before, that the three books in Pullman’s show are The Golden Compass (printed as Northern Lights from the UK), The Traditional Knife, along with The Amber Spyglass. They follow the experiences of a 12-year-old woman called Lyra, who resides in a literary version of Oxford, England, circa the Victorian age. Everybody has a companion daemon in the shape of a creature –a part of the soul that resides beyond the body–and Lyra’s is termed Pantalaimon. Lyra finds a sinister plot which sends her on a trip to locate her dad in hopes of foiling stated storyline. This journey takes her into unique measurements (the literary universe is really a multiverse) and finally to her coming of age.
