Nokia was selected by NASA to construct the very first ever mobile network around the moon.
The telecommunications company said on Monday that the partnership will produce a route toward”sustainable human existence to the lunar surface,” and also is going to lead to the very first LTE/4G communications program in distance.
Nokia’s Bell Labs unit will construct what it refers to as a”ultra-compact, low-power, space-hardened, end-to-end LTE alternative” which is on the skies by overdue 2022.
The concept is to present the type of technology which makes it feasible to remotely command lunar rovers, or enable real-time navigation and loading of high definition movie, Nokia explained.
“The solution was especially designed to resist the harsh conditions of this launching and lunar landing, and also to function from the extreme conditions of distance,” it stated.
The business said the technology it is utilizing — the precursor to 5G — is”ideally suited” for supplying the type of wireless link”which astronauts need.”
Nokia is working with Intuitive Machines to incorporate the community to a lunar lander and send it into the surface of the moon, in which it will self-configure, it stated.
