A description of the opening scene from Wonder Woman 1984 revealed a young Diana Prince competing against the other Amazons.
Although Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 won’t arrive in theaters until December this year, a description of the opening scene reveals how the new adventure starts, throwing the audience into a “dazzling” competition between the Amazon warriors. The description arrived courtesy of Vanity Fair, who also revealed that Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot received a massive pay rise for her role in the sequel from Patty Jenkins.
The Vanity Fair article described the scene which shows a young Diana, played by Lilly Aspell, competing against other warriors in the Amazon Olympics. The piece pointed out that the scene instantly stays with the audience thanks to the sheer athleticism of Aspell’s performance. An image from Empire Magazine earlier this year revealed a glimpse of the young actress during the introduction to the film. Take a look at the description below.
“In the opening scene of Wonder Woman 1984, the child version of the warrior princess Diana Prince (played by 12-year-old Lilly Aspell, a prize-winning show jumper in real life) engages in a lengthy physical contest, a sort of Amazonian Olympics. It takes place on Themyscira, the magical island and all-woman city-state that is her birthplace. It’s a dazzling sequence from a technical perspective, with many impossible-looking feats executed on a grand scale, but what stays with you is the sheer athleticism on the part of a very determined-looking little girl.”
