Person of Interest star Sarah Shahi joined the cast of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam as a freedom fighter in Kahndaq.
Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam has added another star to its cast list as Sarah Shahi comes aboard the DC and New Line Pictures film as a freedom fighter in Kahndaq, although it’s not clear how big her role will be in the adventure. Shahi is best known for playing Sameen Shaw in Person of Interest as well as Natalie Luongo in Reverie. The Black Adam film will see Sarah Shahi lead a revolution in Kahndaq, whether that’s with the anti-hero, or against him, remains to be seen.
Deadline broke the news that Sarah Shahi has joined the Dwayne Johnson film, revealing that she plays a university professor who also happens to be a revolutionary. It’s not been revealed what Shahi’s character is called and it’s possible that she could have a larger role as a hero (or villain) from the comics that the studio doesn’t want to reveal just yet. The news comes soon after it was announced that Aldis Hodge is in talks to play Hawkman in the DC film. For now, fans can watch the star in other shows like City on a Hill or The Rookie.
How do you think Sarah Shahi will play into the Black Adam film? Are you excited to see Dwayne Johnson rule Kahndaq? Sound-off in the comments below!
Jaume Collet-Serra is directing Black Adam from a script written by Adam Sztykiel. The Dwayne Johnson movie is expected to introduce Hawkman, Doctor Fate and the Justice Society of America to the DC Extended Universe. New Line and DC’s Shazam! was originally going to feature Black Adam before the decision was made to give the character his own standalone film.
In the meantime, fans can still re-watch the original Shazam! film on all home media formats:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Black Adam is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2021.
