Soul star Jamie Foxx compared his personality to the character he voices in the upcoming animated film from Disney and Pixar.
After the recent news that Disney’s Soul will debut on Disney Plus later this year, Jamie Foxx opened up about the upcoming film and compared himself to the character he voices in the animated adventure, teacher and jazz musician Joe Gardner. The star recently made headlines as he’ll return as Electro for the as-of-yet untitled third Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland. But according to Foxx, he’s got a “similar spark” to the lead character in Disney’s Soul.
Soul star Jamie Foxx discussed Joe’s motivations in the film, explaining that before his ethereal adventure, he hopes to perform alongside a jazz legend named Dorothea Williams. The actor compared himself to the character, noting that he was born with a similar motivation to succeed in life and that he just wants to be remembered as someone who can create the smiles. Take a look at Jamie Foxx compare his similarities to Joe Gardner in Disney’s Soul below.
“His dream is to one day play with Dorothea Williams. It’s like a basketball player who wants to play in The Garden. I was born with a similar spark—I came out singing and telling jokes. I just want to be remembered for the joy, man. I had to do a career day for my daughter. I introduced myself as the Deliverer of Sunshine. I create the smiles and give the joy.”
