September was a busy month due to malicious Android programs, with heaps of these from one malware household alone flood either Google Play or third party niches, researchers in security firms said.
Called Joker, this household of malicious programs has been assaulting Android users because late 2016 and more recently has come to be among the most frequent Android risks. Once set up, Joker programs covertly subscribe users to expensive subscription services and may also slip SMS messages, contact lists, along with even apparatus details. Last July, investigators said they discovered Joker lurking in 11 apparently legitimate programs downloaded Play approximately 500,000 days .
Late last week, researchers in security company Zscaler stated they discovered a brand new batch containing 17 Joker-tainted programs with 120,000 downloads. The programs were uploaded to Perform slowly over the course of September. Security company Zimperium, meanwhile, reported Monday that firm researchers discovered 64 fresh Joker versions in September, all of that were seeded in third party program shops.
