A bit of advice: if you run into Katy Perry anytime soon and ask her what she’s going to do after she’s done taking “time off” following the birth of her first child, just don’t. “Popular misconception: being a mom isn’t a full time job,” Perry tweeted on Thursday (Sept. 24) along with baby bottle, upside smile and losing it face emoji.
Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom welcomed their baby girl, Daisy Dove Bloom, on Aug. 26 and in her series of tweets on Thursday the singer also put to rest some gender-bias misconceptions about maternity leave. “When a mom finally goes back to work (whatever profession they do) it’s not like they been coming from months of “time off…” she’s coming from a full time job… of being a mom, lol,” she wrote.
She also offered some practical advice, urging her KatyCats to call them moms to “tell her you love and appreciate her,” and don’t forget to advocate for paid family leave while you’re at it. Finally, Perry made it clear that being a pop star is great and all, but when it comes to being a mom, “I love my job.”
