Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy runs circles around the competition on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind, for August 2020, claiming the entire top seven and nine of the top 10.
Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music during the corresponding period of July 2020.
The Umbrella Academy debuted the entirety of its second season on July 31. Kiss’ “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” which appeared in the season’s fourth episode, rules with 4.3 million U.S. on-demand streams and 4,000 digital downloads in August 2020, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
The Dead South’s “In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company” (3.6 million streams, 4,000 downloads) follows at No. 2 after its appearance in the sixth episode, while Daniela Andrade’s “Crazy,” from the season premiere, is No. 3 (1.5 million streams, 6,000 downloads).
The only non-Umbrella Academy title? Sturgill Simpson’s “Turtles All the Way Down.” Reaching No. 8, the song, which was featured in the Aug. 2 episode of Yellowstone (the series’ seventh episode of its third season), racked up 2 million streams and 4,000 downloads in August 2020.
