Guárdame Esta Noche, El Fantasma’s sixth studio album, bows at No. 7 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart (dated Sept. 26). The 12-track set was released Sept. 11 via AfinArte and produced by Bruce Torrescano and El Fantasma.
Guárdame Esta Noche starts with 3,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, mostly attributed to streaming activity.
“Having one’s album on the Billboard charts is truly an honor and a blessing,” El Fantasma tells Billboard. “It is another recognition for the work one does with so much effort and love. It feels very nice to know that your music continues, album after album, making the listeners happy.”
Guárdame Esta Noche is El Fantasma’s eighth straight top 10 (and eighth total) on Regional Mexican Albums, following Puerta Abierta, Vol. 1, his first duets album, which launched at No. 4 (on the Aug. 15-dated list) and remains in the top 15 on the current chart.
The artist’s latest effort, which includes compositions by Perla Limón (his spouse), Joss Favela and Eden Muñoz (Calibre 50), also starts at No. 26 on the overall Top Latin Albums chart.
Guárdame Esta Noche yielded two hits on Regional Mexican Airplay: the No. 2 peak “Palabra de Hombre” (April 18-dated list) and “Borracho de Cochera” (No. 9 peak, chart dated Aug. 22).
Reik Fifth Top 10 Debut: Over on Latin Pop Albums, Reik’s De México EP opens at No. 7 and earns the trio its fifth top 10. The six-track set comprises of covers -reimagined into pop ballads- of classics by Marco Antonio Solis, Joan Sebastian, Julión Alvarez, Vicent Fernández, Banda MS and Intocable.
De México arrives with 1,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 17, mostly stemming from streaming data.
Reik, concurrently places a second album on Latin Pop Albums: Ahora, its sixth studio album, which remains at No. 9 in its 68th week on the list.
