Hello!
Today we are delighted to be launching a major update for No Man’s Sky. We’ve called it “Origins,” because it is breathing new life into the game’s universe.
Two years ago, Xbox One fans the world over woke up on their first planet, a broken spaceship beside them, and looked around to find their way off that world and into space. So began a journey which for some has been thousands of hours of exploration and discovery.
Earlier this year, over 2 million Xbox One and PC travellers poured into the universe through Xbox Game Pass and they too learnt for the first time how much there was to find.
No Man’s Sky has been updated several times since its original Xbox One launch. Over the years, players have enjoyed the enhanced multiplayer hub of the Nexus with Beyond, birthed and raised living ships, navigated tough planetary environments with their Exo Mech and teamed up with friends and strangers alike on other platforms with cross-play support. Our cadence of updates has increased dramatically this year as we try and accommodate the many different play styles which we are now supporting.
Xbox One players of No Man’s Sky play the game for a wealth of different reasons, but that sensation of discovering something that no one has ever seen before is one of the big ones.
No Man’s Sky: Origins is directed squarely at those explorers.
Starting today, Xbox One travellers will be able to explore a stranger, richer and more diverse universe than ever before. New planetary biomes loomed over by mountainous and volatile terrain, new weather conditions to battle against, a wealth of new creatures large and small, huge new buildings filled with new lore and much, much more. And as with most things in our procedurally generated universe, you will be the first to clap eyes on whatever you discover.
Origins is our big annual update for 2020, in the tradition of Beyond last year. It is something a large part of our small team has been working on in the background to the smaller, more frequent updates so far this year. We’re very excited to see what you find.
Our journey continues.
