"When you have a holiday like Labor Day—we have seen after the 4th of July, after Memorial Day—we saw a surge of cases," he explained. To prevent more outbreaks, he suggests sticking to the fundamentals. "Wear a mask, keep social distancing, avoid crowds. You can avoid those kinds of surges. You don't want to be someone who is propagating the outbreak. However, Dr. Fauci is adamantly against closing up schools and sending kids home, fearing it could worsen the pandemic. "It's the worst thing you can do," he pointed out. "Keep them at the university in a place that's sequestered enough from the other students.
