‘The Last Of Us’ HBO Series Adds Nick Offerman As Bill

Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming series, The Last of Us as the character Bill.

Based on what we have seen, The Last of Us HBO series is quickly proving to be one of the more faithful adaptations of a video game in recent memory. It remains to be seen whether or not this turns out for good or ill but various images have shown a series that will, at the very least, be visually faithful to the games. Now the upcoming series has cast an actor known for playing something of an oddball to play something of an oddball.

According to Variety, Nick Offerman, best known for his role in Parks and Recreation, has been cast as the character Bill for the upcoming The Last of Us HBO series. Actor Con O’Neill had originally been cast for the role but had to step aside due to scheduling conflicts. In the game, Joel and Bill had a history with the latter aiding him in his smuggling operations in Boston and owed him a number of favors. Bill would eventually help Joel and Ellie by getting them a car and helping them navigate a town filled with infected. It is currently unknown how big of a role Nick Offerman’s character will have in the upcoming series.

The original video game centers on the relationship between a smuggler named Joel and 14-year-old Ellie, the latter of whom may be the key to curing the deadly pandemic that resulted in the post-apocalypse world of the game. Hired to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine zone, Joel finds himself relying on the teenage girl just as much as she relies on him as they fight to survive on their journey across the United States. The HBO adaptation will cover the events of the first game, with the second game potentially surviving as the basis for additional content. The upcoming series is said to be one of the most expensive ever made, with each episode said to cost roughly $10M with a total budget of around $200M.

HBO’s The Last Of Us currently does not have a release date but is reportedly planned to be released in late 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
