Henry Cavill revealed he wanted to see a more lighthearted Superman before Zack Snyder’s darker Justice League sequels.
It’s been years since Henry Cavill last donned the Superman suit, and while the actor says the cape is still in his closet, Warner Bros. isn’t developing a project with him. However, we did learn Zack Snyder’s plans for Superman in the final two Justice League films, which would’ve seen him side with Darkseid due to the Anti-Life Equation.
Henry Cavill recently shared with GQ Spain that he would’ve wanted to spend some time with a more hopeful Superman before the planned Justice League sequels:
“I was very keen on really fleshing out Superman’s early stages of his journey first. We had Man of Steel, and then we went quite a bit darker with Batman v Superman. And if he were to succumb to the Anti-Life Equation and become bad Superman [in Justice League sequels], I really wanted to make sure that we saw the hero Superman and we saw the true symbol of hope, the beacon of light, before we went down the path of darkness and then redemption. It’s still something that I’m very keen to flesh out.”
Henry Cavill last played Superman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here is the synopsis for the film:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
Both versions of Justice League are available on HBO Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of Henry Cavill as Superman, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
