‘Hawkeye’ Star Jeremy Renner Reveals His Reaction To ‘Black Widow’ After-Credits Ending

Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner has revealed his reaction to the after-credits ending to Scarlett Johansson’s final Marvel film, Black Widow.

After a delay that lasted for over a year thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, Black Widow was finally released on Disney Plus and to theaters simultaneously. It was otherwise well-received by critics but garnered more attention for Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit against Disney over the film’s release. One element that had audience members dropping their jaws, however, was the film’s after-credits ending.

The scene in question takes place sometime after the events of Avengers: Endgame. In the film, Black Widow sacrificed herself so Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye could obtain the Soul Stone and undo all the damage Thanos had done during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Black Widow’s adoptive sister, Yelena Belova is seen at her grave before Valentina Allegra de Fontaine approaches her, indicating that the two are working together. She then reveals that her next target is none other than Hawkeye, who she is blaming for Black Widow’s death.

While speaking to Variety, Jeremy Renner was asked about his reaction to the after-credits ending of the film. The actor admitted that he didn’t have much of a reaction to the scene because he was too busy laughing at his niece’s reaction to it:

“I was with my niece and [she’s] like ‘Uncle Jeremy, what did you do? I didn’t do anything! I had no reaction, I was laughing at my niece.”

Here is the synopsis for Hawkeye:

“Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.”

Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Brian d’Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox. Florence Pugh is expected to return in her Black Widow role.

Hawkeye is set to premiere with two episodes on November 24, exclusively on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
