Coco Austin probably didn’t count on this much backlash when she took to Instagram on Thursday!
The 42-year-old reality TV star and proud momma posted a new set of pictures to her IG account that morning, showing off 5-year-old daughter Chanel! And while the little girl is SO adorable, smiling from ear-to-ear and looking amazing, it’s her nails that eagle-eyed fans were hung up on.

For the snaps, the Ice Loves Coco star dolled up Chanel for School Picture Day. Part of that included a French manicure, in which Coco “let Chanel do mini tips to her nails,” along with getting her hair done and more primping for the important photo!
As you can see (below), Chanel is as cute as a button:
So… what’s the problem, then??
Well, like we mentioned (above), Ice-T‘s wife ended up catching major backlash from a good-sized chunk of her 3 million Instagram followers over putting acrylics on her 5-year-old! It was doubly bad, too, because this follows on the heels of last month’s Coco-related controversy, when she revealed she still breastfeeds Chanel!

Some fans referenced the dichotomy there (fake nails for a 5-year-old who also still breastfeeds?!) while others merely took offense at the star pushing adult beauty standards onto her little girl. Coco had her defenders, though, too!
As you can see with a random sampling of the reactions to Chanel’s nails (below), the comments section on that post is a s**t show:
“Why she got tips but still breastfeed is she a baby or a young woman?”
“Are those actual acrylics? Or??”
“As a licensed manicurist, putting artificial nails or even tips on nails is damaging to ur natural nails. And in time ur natural nails will fall off. At 5 years old a manicure with a french manicure in polish would be more appropriate.”
“Lol man y’all ain’t got nothing better to do then to judge to someone for how they parent my child is 10 and I allow her to have her nails done from time to time. Chanel’s nails look cute!”
“Just here to remind everyone it cost $0.00 to mind ya damn business if you don’t agree with someone else’s parenting lifestyle”
“Absolutely beautiful! Ppl need to worry about their own kids!”
“Let her be a child and it’s okay for parents to say no to ur child. Explain that they’re just not grown up yet to experience the grown up things.”

Wow. So many opinions!
That last one is seriously true, though — she and Ice-T look so much alike! It’s amazing!
Anyways what do U make of NailGate, Perezcious readers?? Is Chanel too young for acrylics or not?!
