Production for the first episode of the HBO series, The Last Of Us featuring Pedro Pascal has wrapped.
Originally announced back in March of 2020, the development of HBO’s The Last of Us feels like it is taking forever. Since the announcement, the series has made numerous casting announcements and teased fans as to what they can expect from this upcoming series. Filming for The Last Of Us officially began in early July and now the series has reached its first major milestone.
According to Kantemir Balagov, the director of the first episode of The Last of Us, the production for the series first episode has concluded. In a recent post, the director shared a behind-the-scenes image with a caption saying that his work is done. You can see the full image in the link below:
The original video game centers on the relationship between a smuggler named Joel and 14-year-old Ellie, the latter of whom may be the key to curing the deadly pandemic that resulted in the post-apocalypse world of the game. Hired to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine zone, Joel finds himself relying on the teenage girl just as much as she relies on him as they fight to survive on their journey across the United States. The HBO adaptation will cover the events of the first game, with the second game potentially surviving as the basis for additional content. The upcoming series is said to be one of the most expensive ever made, with each episode said to cost roughly $10M with a total budget of around $200M.
HBO’s The Last Of Us currently does not have a release date but is reportedly planned to be released in late 2022.
