New merchandise from Marvel Studios’ What If…? reveals new looks for Party Thor, T’Challa as Star-Lord and Jeffrey Wright’s The Watcher.
Marvel Studios’ first animated series What If…? is set to debut later this year, giving us hypothetical insights into what could have happened if things turned out different for our favorite heroes. The anthology series features a robust voice cast that is lifted directly from the films. The series is set to hit Disney Plus in August and a second season is already in development. New merch from the animated series has now given us a greater look at two of the hypothetical characters that will be making their debut in the series: Party Thor and T’Challa as Star-Lord. There’s also a new look at Jeffrey Wright’s The Watcher, who acts as our guide through all these hypothetical happenings.
Party Thor’s aesthetic is clearly a nod towards the 80s’ vaporware aesthetic, right down to the neon lights. Party Thor’s story in What If…? is set to focus on the hypothetical of Thor creating a party so great that it could end the world as we know it. T’Challa as Star-Lord is fairly simple. Instead of Peter Quill being picked up by Yonda and the Ravagers, prince T’Challa is invited on board to join the crew and become an intergalactic adventurer. Both Chris Hemsworth and Chadwick Boseman will be reprising their roles as Thor and T’Challa respectively for What If…? As for Jeffrey Wright’s Watcher, we know that he’ll be our portal into all these unique worlds, joining us for what looks like the entire series.
