Director James Gunn debunked a theory online regarding Avengers: Endgame and the death of Michael Rooker’s Yondu.
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy films have never shied away from exploring the emotional sides to the cosmic band of misfits, but Vol. 2 made things even more heartbreaking with Yondu Udonta sacrificing himself to save Star-Lord. However, some fans believe that Marvel Studios went to great lengths to hide the character’s death in the film.
When speaking to fans on Twitter, James Gunn briefly addressed a surprising theory that Marvel flew Michael Rooker to the Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame set (which were filmed back to back) in an attempt to hide the fact that Yondu died in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2. This largely stems from the fact that Rooker posted a photo wearing a hat with the Infinity War logo on it. The director explained that the star filmed footage for the Guardians ride in Disneyland, which happened to be next to the Infinity War set. So there you have it: Marvel didn’t fly Michael Rooker to the Avengers set just to cover Yondu’s death. Take a look below.
No one ever flew Michael Rooker to the Endgame set to hide Yondu’s death. He did shoot the Halloween skin for the Guardians ride in Disneyland next to the set of IW however, and people ran with it. https://t.co/XIH33prM32
