Avatar Studios The Last Airbender Nickelodeon

Avatar Studios The Last Airbender NickelodeonNickelodeon president Brian Robbins teased the big plans they have in store for The Last Airbender franchise under the newly formed Avatar Studios.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise has gotten a second wind in the past year thanks to the show’s addition on Netflix. While the streaming giant is also developing its own live-action adaptation, the series will no longer include show creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Instead, Bryke will be heavily involved with other future stories in the franchise under Avatar Studios.

An animated theatrical film set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is going into production sometime this year, with other projects heading to Paramount Plus as well. At the Nickelodeon upfronts, Brian Robbins shared how ambitious their plans are for the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise:

“We are in the early stages of developing and exploring what we are calling an entire Avatar Airbender universe. Mike and Bryan are hard at work, and I think that universe will encompass definitely a theatrical film, animation, certainly multiple TV series and probably multiple films. I think we will be ready very soon to tell the world what is coming first but we are not there yet because we’re in early stages of creative development.”
