Ryan Coogler is currently hard at work developing the highly-anticipated sequel that could begin filming this summer. In addition to the sequel, Coogler is also working on a Wakanda spin-off series for Disney Plus.

In a recent Good Morning America appearance, Lupita Nyong’o opened up about the status of the upcoming Black Panther sequel and teased Ryan Coogler’s direction:

“It’s gonna be different, of course, without our king to go back into that world. But I know that all of us are dedicated to carrying on his legacy in this new Black Panther. And [director] Ryan Coogler has some really, really exciting ideas that I look forward to bringing to life with the rest of the family.”
