Some of Phase 4’s biggest mysteries partially lie with Marvel Studios’ new franchises. Eternals is one of them and was originally going to hit theaters back in November, but the film has now been delayed a year. Not much is known or has been seen from the upcoming film, but it could be one of Marvel Studios’ most ambitious projects yet with Chloe Zhao at the helm.

Chloe Zhao is already a critically acclaimed independent filmmaker after her work on The Rider and is also earning praise for her latest, Nomadland. Eternals will be Zhao’s first venture into big-budget filmmaking and she revealed during an interview with Margaret Gardiner that she will also receive writing credit on the picture:

“I am the writer on the Eternals, the credits just aren’t updated yet. I don’t know what it would be like if I don’t write the films [I direct]… In the writing process is where I bring in my sensibility, that’s a huge part of it. I’m creating situations that will allow certain cinematic language to come in that I’ve learned on my last three films.”
