Regis Philbin regrettably passed off before this season — but he died nearly a decade ago due to David Letterman!
{On Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the prior late night celebrity remembered using the daylight TV legend for a guest on Late Show With David Letterman {} until he retired in Live! |}
The comedian clarified that while determining what type of gift for Regis to celebrate his retirementone of the staffers indicated a Rascal Scooter as “a joke about the weak and old ” he’s. But, Letterman had a much better thought — so he believed.

He remembered:
“I mentioned, ‘No, no. Permit ’s not provide Regis a Rascal Scooter. Permit ’s provide him an true scooter, even like a Vespa. … So ’s exactly what we chose to perform. [We mentioned,] ‘Regiswe’re excited. We all ’re sorry you’re awakened, yet to commemorate the day along with your very final series tomorrow, we now ’re providing you that gorgeous, fresh Vespa scooter’ ”
Y’know where that is likely…
The CBS app had the TV star ride the scooter on-camera, directly outside the studio. Following he found goodbye, nevertheless, Regis chose a barbarous fall into the floor. Ouch!
